Yorkshire Terrier: Clever & Energetic
One of the newer breeds of dogs is the Yorkshire terrier. They have only been considered a breed for the last 100 years. They originated from England and Scotland. These clever, energetic dogs are great with older children, who are less likely to scare or startle the dog. Yorkshire terriers have beautiful long, silky coats. Yorkshire terriers have a steel blue color on their bodies and tail, but tan on the longer part of the fur. They have a medium sized muzzle and an all black nose. Yorkies tend to be energetic, loyal and clever.
They need a considerable amount of attention and they are a rather demanding breed of dog. They tend to be smaller animals, less than a foot and a half tall and weighing less than ten to fifteen pounds. With the size of the Yorki, they tend to be great apartment dogs.
Yorkshire Terriers have a life expectancy of twelve to fifteen years. This is a considerable age for a dog that ages seven times a year, meaning that the dog can live to be eighty-four to a hundred and five years old. Yorkies are often cross bred with poodles to create a new breed of dog. These dogs are referred to as Yorkipoos. They are specifically bred to be minature sized, standing between seven to twelve inches tall and weighing four to fifteen pounds. Many of the Yorkipoos are considered to be first generational dogs and this is why that are not regarded as a true breed.
Another great aspect of this cross breeding is that they shed very little or not at all. They are great
if you are a dog lover but tend to have allergic reactions. Finding the right dog to fit your lifestyle can be rather difficult, but can change your life and give you a companion that you will cherish for a lifetime.
